Chinese parents are being deceived by a company promising to predict their children’s academic future by reading the children’s palms.

http://www.calgarysun.com/2012/01/31/chinese-tots-subjected-to-palm-reading

The Head Line only describes the current preferred thinking style, not the future possibilities for success.

Now if the parents want some useful information from their children’s hands, they would have their fingerprints analyzed to determine the child’s Life Purpose. Unlike the Head Line which will change over time if the thinking style changes, the fingerprints are fixed for life.

When you know the Life Purpose you can support the child in going for his/her dreams and that is a far better predictor for life success!

What Do You Want to Say? – Messenger Life Purpose

Are you over-bearing and dominating in your communication style or so soft-spoken or meek you cannot be heard? Are you trying to convince people you have their answers? As with any purpose, growth occurs when you grapple with the challenges involved. Do you struggle to be heard?

Perhaps you feel as though no one ever listens to you. Or you may find yourself screaming or shouting to be heard. Some of the challenges for Messengers are early experiences of not being listened to or delivering your message to the wrong audience. Both can result in a belief that what you have to say has no value. It’s important for you to discern who is and is who is not your audience. Don’t try to convince those who are not open to listen and heed your message.

This Life Purpose has to do with communication. If you have this purpose, your goal is to figure out what you want to say and how you want to convey your message and then find the appropriate audience. Learning to be a good listener is also essential as excellent communication involves both listening well and speaking clearly.

As you hone your communication skills, you will want to get your message out to the world in some fashion. Taking part in writers’ groups or Toastmasters could be very helpful. This purpose is one that is meant to be done in the public rather than say journal writing that no one else reads.

My client Marianne struggled with being heard. She grew up in a family who believed children should be seen and not heard. That resulted in a belief no one would want to listen to her. When she learned this was her Life Purpose Marianne went to Toastmasters and worked on developing her confidence and skills in public speaking. She was passionate about the environment and found great success in inspiring others to recycle once she found her voice and audience.

If You Are a Creative You Gotta Love Your Uniqueness

If someone is going to get teary on learning her Life Purpose, it’s almost always the Creative. Her challenge is often being different than everyone else and that can be an uncomfortable feeling. Especially when she looks around and sees she is not like other people and then proceeds to tell herself there is something wrong with her. Many “Creatives” are even told by their parents they are weird, unusual, or different in a bad way. What a shame!

Creatives (some other names for this purpose are Individualist or Artist) are here to be on the cutting edge. They see things in new ways and bring a fresh unique perspective to the status quo. Most can relate to Kermit’s famous song, It’s Not Easy Being Green.

Those of us who appreciate differentness welcome their new ideas, but in a society that values conformity, read most schools, Creatives are frequently ridiculed or shamed for their non-conformity. That leads many to feel as though they have to be like everyone else and they squelch their uniqueness and sell out to fit in.

It takes a lot of energy to hold back on your essence and that leaves conformist Creatives feeling apathetic. What a dilemma!

As with most things you fear, the only answer is to do what you are afraid of. For Creatives that is to express themselves authentically. To speak up and share their unique ideas or to paint their way, sing their own song or dance their own way. If I am speaking to you in this article, please share with us whatever your expression is and don’t hold back. I believe we all came here with gifts to give the world and someone is missing out if you won’t share yours.

You can be a Creative and think you are not because you took a painting class and weren’t good at it. I have often had Creative clients tell me this. What you are forgetting is that it takes time and lots of practice and probably several lessons to become skilful in your art, whatever form that takes. If you listen to the voice of your inner critic that tells you you’re awful you may give up before you’ve even really begun. And Creatives have a very loud Inner Critic, so it takes commitment to turn off that voice when it is not being helpful.

I leave you with the wisdom of Dr. Seuss. “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”

The middle finger is named after Saturn, the mythical god and planet that rules responsibility, structure and integrity. This purpose centres on commitments, both to yourself and with others. You will need to ensure you evaluate contracts carefully before you commit in order to ensure you can fulfill your part. It’s also important to hold others accountable for their commitments to you.

If Business is your purpose, you will be charged to make your living in work that is aligned with your essence. Working just for the money would compromise your purpose and leave you feeling unfulfilled. Hmm, know anyone this applies to?

Business Life Purpose folks often have a tendency to undervalue their services. Charging the equivalent in what you give in value is crucial to you. In order to do this, you have to be very clear on the value you offer. This isn’t always an easy task and you may struggle with knowing your true worth. Find out what others who do similar work charge and make sure you are asking a similar amount.

One of my clients I will call Suzanne, was working as a teacher when she had her hands analyzed. Business was her purpose, along with Success. That’s the purpose of someone who would probably thrive as a CEO or entrepreneur. However Suzanne was seduced by the salary and benefits of teaching even though she acknowledged her heart really wasn’t in it. Suzanne went along for a couple of years with the money being enough, but realized she was wasting her true gifts. The lack of passion for her work eventually took its toll and she resigned to start her own business. You can see when you talk to her how animated and enthused she is about her work now.

Are you doing work you love and being well paid for it? Or do you see yourself in Suzanne’s story, selling out for a comfortable income, but feeling unfulfilled. Your hands hold the key to your unique Life Purpose and a fulfilling life when you actively engage the essence of who you are in your work. You can save time by using the blueprint in your hands to follow rather than going from one job to another looking for fulfillment.

Contact me at info@rosemaryheenan.com to get your hands analyzed and have your own blueprint. Distance is not an issue for getting your reading. I can mail you a printing kit and instructions.

Leaders are visionaries. They see the world as it could be and inspire others to work toward that vision. In my lifetime there have been many powerful leaders who ignited movements to change the world. Think Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, the early feminists. All have inspired people to look at the norm, see how it does not serve large numbers of people and to put a stop to oppression.

You may be a leader on a smaller scale than they were; nonetheless your leadership is just as important for those you inspire. You could be teaching children how to get along, stand up for themselves and reduce bullying. Perhaps you lead a team at work and motivate them to reach sales goals. Perhaps you are a personal trainer who helps clients fulfill the steps necessary to reach their fitness goals.

We all have challenges to fulfilling our purpose. Leaders have to be willing to handle conflict rather than avoiding or fearing it. They make decisions and while they consult others opinions, they accept responsibility for achievement of their goals.

Another challenge leaders may face is unwillingness to be the person in charge. I often see people who prefer to be the second in command or the behind the scenes player rather than the face of the organization. Owning your power and using it wisely may be difficult, however it’s far more fulfilling than spending your life making someone’s else’s dreams come true.

Get clear on your vision and take action to make it come to life. You will feel confident, influential and authoritative when you act as the Leader your hands say you are.

You may be like my client Samantha who had often felt the urge to step into a leadership role, but lacked the confidence to go for it. She listened to the inner critic who would always say, “Who do you think you are?” After having her hands analyzed Samantha applied for the next management position that came up at her work and is thriving in her role as a Leader living her Life Purpose.

Need support to fully step into your role as a leader? Contact me see if Heart Power Coaching would be a good fit for you. info@rosemaryheenan.com

We are in the final quarter of the year. Are you on track with all those goals and resolutions you made for 2011? Are you feeling more connected to your Life Purpose? Are you expressing that more than ever? Doesn’t it feel wonderful when you do?

Remember your Life Purpose is your reason for be-ing. It is who you are and what you do. You can bring the essence of who you are into anything you do.

When you know your Life Purpose, you can direct your energy to “work” that is fulfilling and gives meaning and value to your life. You can feel and be passionate and purpose-full. It is the things that turn you on, light you up and energize you. And you understand why you always respond in a certain way.

I thought I would describe the different Life Purposes over the next series of articles and give you some insights to help you live more fully on purpose.

The Master of Success is a thumb Life Purpose. This person is independent and wants to make her own way in the world. She can take the intangible and turn it into something tangible and useful. Often full of ideas, she is good at taking action and getting results when living purposefully and following her own goals. She makes an excellent CEO and can be very inspiring.

The challenges for this person include being sure to work at their chosen career and not get stuck fulfilling parents’ dreams for them that may not align with their desires. They can also flip to the too little side of their purpose and not complete their projects, stop short of success or fail to dot the ‘i’s and cross the ‘t’s so their work lacks quality.

One of the major challenges I see in working with people who have the purpose is they fail to acknowledge their results. Instead of stopping and recognizing their accomplishments they quickly move on to the next project which can lead to being driven and not feeling successful. I coach them to stop and breathe in their successes and really own them.

Next time Leader Life Purpose

Ever been faced with a problem or challenge and even though you worked at solving it several different ways, you weren’t able to fix it?

I have been doing that over and over again and when I finally remembered this quote by Albert Einstein, it was one of those light bulb moments. No wonder I was getting nowhere. I kept trying to fix it at the very same level and the solution lies in a completely different plane, the metaphysical.

The reason I have this persistent problem is because of limiting beliefs I hold. Every time I thought I had it solved, it would come back because the underlying beliefs were causing the problem. I can’t change it permanently until I resolve the real cause.

Everything we see in our environment is an effect. The cause comes from within. What we think, believe, and were programmed with creates the external.

The good news of our challenges is they expose our limiting beliefs; thus creating the opportunity to work on changing them. Never be afraid to have a look at what is holding you back. It’s impossible to change something you are not aware of.

John Assaraf posted this inspirational piece this morning on Facebook and it speaks right to my message.

“If you secretly don’t believe in yourself…you will secretly sabotage your success. Eliminate self doubt, fears and any feeling of being less than or not good enough and rise to the fact that you were born to achieve the seeds of greatness within your genes. Today is your day, seize it and become all you are meant to become. Wait no more, do it now!”

Let’s all seize today and express our greatness. The world needs all of us contributing our gifts, not hiding out thinking we aren’t good enough.

Your blueprint for living your Purpose-full Life is right in your hands. When you know what your special life message is, you can use that as your map for living your best life and sharing the gifts you are here to give.

I’ve been going through one of those times in my life where I am called to dig deep inside and find out what I value and who I am at my core. It’s been a tough couple of months.

When I want to start writing I find myself waffling between finding an easy topic and sharing that I am having a hard time. I decided to share some of the lessons I am learning that are helping me.

I am learning how important it is to ask for help when I need it. I was raised to be independent and while I have done well in that department, it can be awfully tough to carry every burden alone. It’s much slower to have to learn how to do everything myself than it is to ask someone to help who already knows what I don’t. People like to help others. How come I think it’s okay for me to do things for others, but not to ask for help when I need it? I rob friends and family of the opportunity to enjoy helping me.

Prayer really does help! Every time I ask for a sign that everything will work out, I receive some message of hope and support. Prayer and meditation put me in a peaceful state.

There is power in taking full responsibility for my actions. I was going to say mistakes, but somehow that word doesn’t feel right. I may see in time that what could be thought of as a mistake was not. When I take responsibility, I can look for help, answers, and solutions instead of excuses, blame and guilt.

I’ve found I have a deep well of love to draw from and that the well does not appear to have a bottom. I can drink from this well too and I feel peaceful when I do.

I am learning how determined I am to be the best me I can be. Perhaps that is part of why I am challenged, so I can see my strength and realize that being a loving person is more than just a platitude to me.

I’m also learning to let go of pretence and pride and show up authentically. The summer heat is making it too hot to wear any masks.

I am reading a wonderful book right now called Success Intelligence by Robert Holden. This was sitting on my shelf for quite a while and I find it has such wisdom for me now and thought-provoking questions that are helping me go through this challenge in a successful way.

I thank you for reading. There is much to share on this journey and if you are going through tough times, I know you can find the strength you need to grow into the person you need to be to handle them.

Learned on my way to weight release success!

This concludes this series of the ingredients to success I’ve learned as I have been releasing weight.

If you have ever taken on a life transforming issue you can relate to the joy I feel each day as I experience a completely different relationship with food and my body. If you have something you want to change, please keep going for it. I was 61 when I started this program, so it is never too late.

As I said in my first article, I began this process to take on my life lesson of stuffing my feelings in order to be able to live my life purpose more fully. It had been 3 years since I learned my lesson in my hand analysis reading. It took me quite a while to intercept the long-standing habit of eating over my feelings before acknowledging I was having them.

I also used other numbing behaviours too that I have stopped. This is typical of the way this lesson operates. People may overwork, watch too much TV, and drink or spend too much – anything done to excess that keeps you numb.

Today I can say that I am aware l am having the feelings first and then make a choice to let myself experience them until they release on their own. I had read that would happen, but my pattern or habit was so strong, I acted unconsciously to stuff them down before I could feel them.

Let me tell you, this takes courage. When you haven’t allowed yourself to feel strong emotions they can feel very uncomfortable. However, they do run their course unless I hold onto them by talking about them over and over either inside my head or to others.

If I feel like a victim, for example, instead of acknowledging I am angry and then looking for solutions to the situation, the emotions will stick as long as I am in victim mode. The good news is that feeling like a victim is just a decision. I can change my mind and connect to my resourceful, solutions-oriented self anytime I choose.

Here are the last three ingredients.
1. Acknowledge everything you are doing. Pay attention to even the smallest changes. My body has quite a bit of padding from the extra fat and at first I could not see anything happening by looking down or in a mirror. But what I did notice was how I could feel the muscles developing inside myself. I had an awareness of them that had not been there before. I paid attention to that rather than the outside appearance until the changes began to be noticeable externally too.
I could see all the days on my calendar that had exercise written on them. Wow! Compare that to the same period last year where no days were recorded and I had compelling evidence of my commitment.

What do you need to pay attention to that you’re not? I invite you to take a good look each day at anything you’ve done to reach the goals you have for yourself. Noticing your successes empowers you to do more. Ignoring them keeps you feeling you’re not doing enough.

2.	Try new things. My trainer provides a wide variety of exercises and that keeps me from getting bored. As I get stronger I do more sets and more challenging exercises. I remember at the beginning how weak my stomach muscles were and I am enjoying pushing myself to do more now that they are strengthening.

When she knew I was ready, my trainer added some kick-boxing to the classes. I would never have imagined I would enjoy kick-boxing, but found it lots of fun.

I would like to introduce you to my trainer, Gosia Cano, 1-Fit-Mama. Gosia is motivating, fun, dedicated to our success and most important an expert at fitness. She knows how to adapt exercise and what to add if you’re injured so you can keep strengthening the weaker area, not get re-injured and not have to quit. She teaches a variety of classes too, something for everyone. Read more about her at her website http://www.1-fit-mama.com .

What are you missing out on because you’ve decided you wouldn’t enjoy it before trying it out?

3.	Find what works for you. Experiment until you find the right combination of what you need to succeed. Over the years I have tried a whole variety of traditional and non-traditional therapies and programs to reach my goals. Some worked and others didn’t. When I was really ready and had made the commitment to my vision for my new healthy body, I found the right support.

I wouldn’t have known what would work if I hadn’t tried different things. Again I encourage you not to give up. Experiment until you find what works for you. We all need support to reach our goals and we are each unique, so finding the right combination for you is important.

The reward of all this has been a substantial growth in my business. Now I know from experience that working on the life lesson is the key to living the life purpose.

Thank you to all the people who have sent positive comments on this series. I trust there is something of value in what I have learned that you can use for reaching your goals.

Have a new and different party this summer This is an ideal time of year to have a Life Purpose Party with your friends. Sharing readings with friends is a wonderful way to connect with each other and bond on a deeper level. Readings are 15-20 minutes each and the host can receive a complimentary reading depending on the number of guests.

In my April 24th article I talked about my belief that we do not usually walk a clear, straight path to success and gave you three of the top 10 ingredients I have used to create my success in releasing weight.
This article will cover another four tips.

No matter what our goals when we set them there is a gap between where we are currently and where we intend to be when we’ve reached the goal. I believe it is important to pay attention to our language and I encourage you to have a look at what language you use to describe this gap.

Are you saying you are not successful because you are not there yet? Or do you put a more positive spin on it and recognize your soul is urging you to become the next best version of you?

I hope it’s the latter.

Some people seem to do better when someone stands over them cracking a whip. That does not work for me. My next four ingredients come from what works best for my personality and will give you a peek at my heart-centred coaching strategy for clients.

1.	Compassion is essential to personal growth. I do not believe in shame or guilt as motivators. If we take the outlook that we are always doing the best we can at the time, it’s much easier to take responsibility for where we are and also to recognize when we could step it up a notch or two.

Shame and guilt vibrate at the lowest frequency of emotions according to Dr. David Hawkins Map of Consciousness. Think about a time when you felt shame or guilt about something you did or didn’t do. How empowered do you feel right now?

If you’re like me, you just feel yucky and want to hide rather than move into action. Do you have anything you need to be compassionate about to empower you?

2.	Take responsibility for where we are now. We created it through our previous beliefs and behaviours. When we admit this it gives us greater power because we stop blaming anyone or any circumstance. We can take appropriate action to change whatever beliefs or behaviours are necessary to create new results.

For example with the weight release, I can say I have a slow metabolism and that’s why I am overweight. However, I didn’t help myself by sitting at my computer all day and rarely moving my body energetically. That actually added to the problem of the slow metabolism.
What I found once I began regular exercise and built muscle was my body was able to burn calories faster and my release of weight sped up.

Where could taking responsibility for your current circumstances make a difference between success and the same old results for you?

3.	Commitment is another key. We have to commit and re-commit and re-commit whenever we engage in change that requires a long-term process. I found having a future vision motivated me during the early days when the results of my program were not easy to notice. I looked at that vision mentally and committed to making it a reality.

I commit to my exercise program and put my class into my planner weeks in advance to ensure I do not book something else in that time period. I also look for when I can take another class at the gym or work out on my own and schedule that each week.

What are you committed to achieving in your life? Have you found you had to make that commitment more than once to succeed?

4.	Consistent action in small steps creates the end result. Even if you move forward an inch a day, you are going towards your goal.

I pay attention to what I am doing differently. It’s pretty easy to overlook small changes and that can make me feel as though I am not doing enough. When I stop and notice what I am doing differently and congratulate myself for every action I take I am motivated to continue.

What actions are you taking to reach your goals? Are you paying attention to what you’re doing?

Having a coach who sees the best in you and holds you accountable can make all the difference in successfully reaching your goals. Email me to make an appointment to discuss how Heart Power Coaching can support you in your success. rosemary@rosemaryheenan.com
